Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Local Offer

Support for children and young people with SEN and disabilities

All the staff at Rodwell preschool are inclusive and positive and will welcome you and your child from your very first visit. We provide good quality care and education following the EYFS (Early Years Foundation Stage) and learning through play. All members of our staff will observe children and their interests in order to plan exciting activities inside and out to enrich their environments and experiences. The team is made up of 9 members of staff who are passionate in children reaching their full potential in a warm safe environment. Each child will be given an allocated key worker who will work closely with the child and their parents to build up strong relationships to enable respectful sharing of information. If you have any concerns about your child's development please ask for a time when you can discuss this in private with the preschool SENCO. The setting has a Special Educational Needs Co-Ordinator (Senco) who attends regular training. The training is open for all staff and often specific, based on the children attending the setting, for example, PEIC-D training (promoting early interaction and communication), Practical Inclusion and Narrative play. Practitioners support children's development and care needs through a number of ways, including differentiation of activities to enable your child to access all areas of the EYFS and monitor and adapt our own practice, strategies and provision, where practicable to meet individual children's needs. We access other professional services if required, after consultation with parents. The Practitioners at Rodwell Preschool understand the need for a holistic approach, and believe that a child learns best when they are happy, safe, and having fun.
