Additional Information
The service covers the whole of Dorset. The administration office is open for enquires and bookings Monday to Friday, 8.30am to 5pm. Clinics run from 8.40am to 4.30pm. The service operates from a large number of venues across the county including GP centres and community hospitals. The facilities at each site vary as does accessibility but may include accessible toilets, baby changing changing facilities, disabled parking bays with additional parking near by and fully wheelchair accessible with lifts. Following referral, service users will be invited to make an appointment through the NHS’s E-Referral booking system, at a venue to suit you. There are waiting rooms at each site and for young children, please bring your child’s favourite toy, drinks, snacks etc. A full assessment is carried out at appointments to determine treatment. This is an NHS service. No private appointments offered.
Referral information
Professional referral only. Very young children are usually referred direct by the GP to specialist hospital services. At appointments, service users are seen by a member of our Podiatry team. A podiatrist is a health professional who can assess, diagnose, treat and manage conditions of the feet. The Health Professions Council regulates the Podiatry profession and ensures that all of its members meet their standards for training, professional skills, behaviour and health. Once your child has been seen he or she may be referred onto one of our specialist services rheumatology (Rheumatoid issues), Biomechanics and Musculoskeletal (foot functional mobility) departments.
