Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Local Offer

Support for children and young people with SEN and disabilities
At The Grange School the SEND provision ensures that identification of needs and the appropriate support is being offered to facilitate purposeful, safe and highly effective learning environments for all pupils to thrive in regardless of any difficulties they may encounter. We value all young people equally and we work hard to ensure that all students, regardless of their specific needs, make the best possible progress in school. We have a responsibility to enable all young people to have equal access to a broad, balanced, relevant and challenging curriculum, and to play as full a part as possible in all aspects of school life. All young people are entitled to experience success and develop to their full potential. Students who require additional support. We have a range of specialist resources and we work closely with external agencies to ensure those young people’s needs are met effectively. All teachers and support staff in our school are responsible for meeting the needs of all young people, including those with special educational needs (SEND). We aim to provide access to a broad and balanced curriculum through high quality teaching but also to offer small group support, or individual help, where young people have specific learning needs. Teachers at our school are experienced at identifying the individual strengths and difficulties of young people with special educational needs (SEND) and are confident at planning differentiated lessons, which cater for the needs of all students in the class. Teaching assistants are skilled at supporting young people who need additional help across the curriculum. As a school, we aim to develop an ethos of care, empathy and understanding. All young people will be valued, and we aim for all young people to experience success and achievement. If you would like further guidance on the support we offer at The Grange please contact the schools SENCO.
