Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Local Offer

Support for children and young people with SEN and disabilities
Doodlebugs preschool provides an environment in which all children, including those with special educational needs (SEN), are supported to reach their full potential. By working in partnership with parents, outside agencies and listening to children we can identify the specific needs of children with special educational needs and meet those needs through a range of SEN strategies. We are a close, happy team who work together to meet the needs of every individual child and family and our aim is to see each child in our care thrive and reach their full potential. We have cared for a number of children aged between 2 and 4 plus years who have had emerging or identified additional educational needs or disabilities including Communication Delays, Sensory Impairment, Physical Delays, Social and Emotional Delays, Autism, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, and Prader Willi Syndrome. Doodlebugs Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO) Clare has lots of experience of working with children with special educational needs and disabilities. Clare has completed Educational Health and Care Plans in partnership with Portage and has training in PECS-Picture Exchange Communication System, PEIC-D, Setting Support Plans and Sign Along and initiates signs each week for children to learn. Doodlebugs has worked closely with a wide range of specialized professionals including Speech Therapists, Portage, Paediatricians, Educational Psychologists, Occupational Therapists, Physio-Therapists, and out local Health Visitor visits the setting termly. Our team is dedicated to provide the best care possible and take each child's individual needs into account. We will support you and your child by accessing any additional services that are required for your child. We work together with the local primary schools to enable smooth transitions to the next stage in your child's life. Settling in sessions at school are organised and we invite all local schools to visit your child within the setting. We will support families to the best of our abilities and always provide a listening ear and shoulder to lean on.
