Dorset Fire Cadets

Dorset And Wiltshire Fire & Rescue Service - Dorset Fire Cadets support the development of young people by providing a positive role model and giving them opportunities to participate in a wide range of activities. Benefits of the programme include a BTEC accreditation, improved self-esteem and confidence, development of practical skills, increased levels of fitness and more. In Dorset the programme is delivered to young people aged 14 to 16 years, who have been specifically chosen from three different groups: those who have successfully completed SPARC and continue to perform positively, those who have been referred by teachers who feel they would benefit (e.g. lacking confidence, communication skills or secure home backgrounds), and those who would purely like to be part of the scheme. The programme lasts for 20 weeks and takes place on one evening a week at a fire station. Where the course runs is determined by where candidates are being drawn from.
