East Dorset Audiology Service

Patients are referred to us for whom there are concerns of a significant hearing loss. We have a paediatric clinic for children and young adults under the age of 18 years, or for those who are attending school. Adults above this age will be seen in the adult audiology service and we also run a specialist clinic for adults with additional learning difficulties. We assess hearing levels and fully discuss all results with the patient and / or family. If appropriate we provide hearing aids and monitor hearing levels. Our service is available to all children and young people in East Dorset.

Additional Information
We assist patients that are referred to us when their GP has suggested that there are concerns of some hearing loss. If you feel that you or one of your family may have a problem with their hearing, then please make an appointment to see your GP. If your GP thinks that it would be of benefit for you to have a hearing test then we will refer you to us for an assessment. You will receive an appointment letter from us within 6 weeks and you will be invited to attend one of our clinics for a hearing assessment. The appointment lasts for one hour and you will complete a hearing test and an examination of your ears. Our services are only available on the NHS and cannot be paid for privately. If you have an appointment with us for an assessment, you will then be invited to attend a follow up. We will send you a questionnaire in the post and also a Friends and Family Test survey so that we can hear your views about the service that we provide. We are situated at 11 Shelley Road in Boscombe but we do also visit 10 other community hospitals and clinics throughout East Dorset at certain times every week.
