The Koru Project

The KORU Project uses the medium of the Arts Therapies, (Art Psychotherapy) Music, Play, Dance, Forest school, and Sports mentoring. The project aims to offer a dynamic therapeutic experience through drama and the arts for young people who are unable to use talking therapies. Koru works in close communication with CAMHS Dorset and offers a mentoring service for young people. The project aims to build self-esteem & confidence re-engaging young people with education and positive activities. We work with both individuals, groups and families in a variety of residential and community based settings using a variety of modalities and materials according to the needs of the client.

Our therapists have years of experience working with children and adults with complex needs and are registered with their regulatory body Health Professions Council (HPC) and the British Association of Art Therapy (BAAT) BACP British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy. They have two years of approved training at Masters level / equivalent and a considerable understanding of art processes underpinned by a sound knowledge of therapeutic practice and have also undergone personal psychotherapy. Service operates Monday to Friday 9am to 6pm with occasional weekends. Please see our website or contact us for further information.
Referral information

Children and young people can be referred to KORU through the following agencies: •Dorset Council •Looked After Children, Virtual School Education Team •Children and Families •Schools •Learning Centres •Youth Offending Teams •Child & Adolescent Mental Health Services CAMHS. Private referrals can also be requested.¦
