The Forum Centre

The Forum Centre is part of the Local Authority’s Children Out of School Service (COOSS) which makes educational provision for children who, for a variety of reasons, are not able to attend school. Currently there are five learning centres across the county, these are all registered as schools by the Department for Education. The purpose of a learning centre is to provide alternative education for those pupils who, for a number of reasons, are unable to access mainstream school. Pupils may have been permanently excluded from school, be at risk of exclusion and dual registered with their mainstream school, be unable to attend school for medical reasons or be experiencing other difficulties.

Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Local Offer

Support for children and young people with SEN and disabilities
At the point of referral to The Forum Centre, pupils' identified needs have been judged appropriate for the environment. The environment offers specialist teachers in a small and nurturing setting. In addition we have effective access to multi-agency professionals to support your child in their education. A key aim of the provision is to offer a consistent approach to addressing pupils' barriers to learning with the intention of developing their full potential.
