Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Local Offer
- Support for children and young people with SEN and disabilities
We are committed to the integration of all children. Prime Time also believes that children with special educational needs have a right to play, learn and be able to develop to their full potential alongside other children. Whenever possible, children with special educational needs will have access to the same facilities, activities and play opportunities as their peers. We will assess each child’s specific needs before enrolment and where necessary adapt Prime Time’s facilities, procedures, practice and activities as appropriate, possible and reasonable to do so. The setting has a named SENDCO (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Co-ordinator), this individual will be trained and experienced in the care and assessment of such children. Our funding from the local authority is for pre-school children if eligible, we receive no funding for children of school age. We will endeavour, however, to support the Equality Acts principles wherever possible and will adhere to our responsibilities under it. We will attempt to make reasonable adjustments where possible. We support all children with SEN to the best of our ability. We have experience in delayed speech, picture communication, mild autism, convulsions and food allergies. Training has been undertaken in these areas. We have a staff ratio of 1:8 and staff are qualified ensuring they are able to give parents advice on the best ways forward for their child. We have an accessible building including entrances and toileting, all our equipment is at a child's level. We communicate with all professionals to ensure the best for all children within the setting.
