Music Therapy - Poole Hospital N.H.S.

Music therapy draws out children's natural strengths and abilities. Research has highlighted many benefits that music-making can have on our health and wellbeing, including improving physical health and ability (e.g. muscular skills, co-ordination); speech development and developing social skills. Music therapy at the Child Development Centre encourages children to participate and become involved in music making, in whatever way they can and at their individual level, in order to support early language development, interaction, physical skills/movement and confidence. The therapy uses improvised music making, familiar songs and instrumental activities. It may also incorporate the use of music to support sensory needs.
