Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Local Offer

Support for children and young people with SEN and disabilities
At Preston Pre-school we pride ourselves on offering excellent SEND provision. Staff are trained and experienced in working with children with additional needs. We have three dedicated SENCO’s and all staff have attended inclusion and SEND training. We have supported children with autistic spectrum disorders, global developmental delay, speech and language delay, complex medical conditions, cerebral palsy, cochlea implants, genetic disorders and many other needs. Many children come to us without a diagnosis, we are experienced in making referrals where required and work closely with a range of professionals. We aim to offer all children attending a safe, stimulating and fun environment where they can play and learn while working towards the Early Years Foundation Stage targets and transition to their next educational setting. We also have experience of working towards other SEND educational progress trackers. Individual plans are devised for children when required and after an initial settling in and assessment period. These plans are regularly assessed (through observations) and revised as children progress. Parents/carers input is essential and concerns may be discussed with staff at any time. We have a high staff to child ratio to ensure the best level of support. We use Singalong, Picture Exchange Communication (PEC’s) and Promoting Early Interactive Conversation (PEIC-D) to support a total communication approach.
