Firesetters Scheme With Dorset And Wiltshire Fire & Rescue Service

Young people start to play with fire for many different reasons, ranging from natural curiosity through to attention seeking. Without help and guidance fire setting behaviour can increase and lead to injuries and damage to homes, schools and other property. The Firesetters scheme is primarily aimed at young people aged up to 18 years although, on occasions it is appropriate to extend the service to include adults. The Firesetters scheme is not a punishment and should not be viewed as such. The objective is to achieve a ‘fire safe’ person and environment. Talking to a young person early on is vital to stop the fire setting habit as soon as possible, early intervention can greatly reduce the chances of it happening again.
